Fresh Fabrics

There are so many inspiring fabric collections out right now and new samples are arriving daily.  Whether you are redecorating an entire room or just need to freshen up an old couch with new pillows, we wanted to share some of our favorites with you.

John Robshaw for Duralee

Textile Designer John Robshaw's signature look is an updated spin on the exotic, handmade object combined with a vibrant mix of sophistication and romantic allure.  His recently launched collection with Duralee Fabrics includes bold patterns that are dyed, printed, woven and stitched.

Howard Hodgkin for Designers Guild

British painter Howard Hodgkin is best known for his abstract works.  His collection with venerable design house Designers Guild is abstract, textural and vibrantly colored.  These painted fabrics are printed on linen and cotton.

Cote d'Azur Indoor-Outdoor Collection for Schumacher

The color palette of this collection is inspired by the sand and sea: chic neutral shades of driftwood, grey, and oyster layer with watery hues of turquoise, pool, and navy. A mix of bold and graphic patterns blend with velvet, chenille, and matelassé weaves, providing enduring luxury and drama for a wide range of environments.

In Living Color

With all of the exciting color combinations in fashion this season, we are loving how this look is being translated to home decor as well.  No more "blah" rooms, instead, bright and vibrant spaces that are cheerful to be in.

From the May cover of Southern Living.  Why we love it: The white tufted sofa and settee are brought to life with the colorful fabrics chosen for this room.  The citrus color pallet of pinks, tangerine, citron yellow and aqua all come together to bring the basics to life.  Side note: if you haven't checked out this magazine in a while, give it a try.  The fresh content is inspiring - it's definitely not your mother's Southern Living.

We enjoyed so many of the design elements in the House Beautiful feature of this prewar apartment designed by Christina Murphy.  However, our absolute favorite room was the family room.  Why we love it: today's go-to neutral, grey, was brought to life with a pallet of blues and greens.  The emerald green velvet sofa is the star of this show and this bold color is repeated in small details throughout: from the pattern on the chair, to the trim on the roman shades, to the flowers on the mantle.  For the traditionalist, this room is a perfect example of how to twist up your design a bit, but still stay true to your roots.

This space designed by Miles Redd is definitely not for the faint of heart, which is exactly the reason we are so enamored with it.  Why we love it: blue lacquer walls, pops of red, black & white accents - this foyer screams sophistication.  It's bold & brash, but in a good way.  Even if you just took away one inspiration from this room, you could liven up your space.  Try painting a pair of doors high gloss black to create drama in your entry way.  Or paint a console in this striking blue and add bright red pagoda lamps.  Hang a white lacquer starburst mirror above and you've got instant drama.

Memorial Day Fun

We can't believe that Memorial Day is here.  It's one of our favorites weekends of the year because it's the official kick off to Summer.  In our opinion June, July & August are the best months for entertaining - color abounds and you have the added bonus of indoor/outdoor spaces to utilize.  Here are some ideas to help make your summertime fete super stylish and fun.

Add bold pops of color to your table with French Bull melamine serving pieces.  They are the perfect accouterments this time of year.

Melamine dishes are the way to go, especially when entertaining outdoors.  Also perfect for everyday use if you have little ones around the house because they are dishwasher safe and unbreakable.

Serve libations in polycarb bistro drink ware.  If a guest has one too many no worries, they can't be broken!

Cotton napkins on a roll make your job as hostess so easy.  Guests can just tear off their own square.

Happy Summer everyone!  May it be your best one yet!

Stylish Living...for a Nursery

A new addition to the adelé family will be here in October, so we were thrilled when we learned that Lulu deKwiatkowski, founder and designer of LULU DK Fabrics, has collaborated with Schumacher on a joyful and sophisticated collection of children’s fabrics.  The combination of bold colors and playful prints is exactly what we had in mind for a stylish nursery.

How perfect are these colors in "Parade?"

From left to right: "Jelly Bean" in Punch, "Twix Tape" in Pink Lemonade/Punch & "Jelly Bean" in Punch.

From left to right: "Lollipop" in Turquoise/Leaf, "sailboat" in Sky, "Twix Tape" in Turquoise/Leaf & "Jungle Jubilee" in Leaf.

"Macaroni" in Turquoise/Leaf

What we love about this collection is that it's whimsical enough for a child's room, but not too cutesy.  It can be used in a room that will grow with the child and combined with clean lined furniture to create a modern, yet cozy environment.  Stay tuned on how our designer Meghann will turn this into a reality for Baby Reilly!

12 Days of Stylish Gifting: Day 12 - Splurge Worthy

There's no better time than the holidays to splurge a little.  Below are some ideas that are sure to make the recipient go "wow."

Each piece in designer Jan Barboglio's line is hand-cut, fashioned and forged by artisans in Mexico.  These works are made to look naturally aged and every piece has intended flaws so that no two are the same.  Pictured from top to bottom: Horseshoe Frame, $92.00.  Petite Rose Box, $86.00.  Velera de Guadalupe Votive Holder, $130.00.

Julia Failey uses reclaimed metals to reduce environmental impact, and her concern for the preservation of natural resources is also reflected in her designs. Uniquely appealing with both style and substance, the Julia Failey collections are fashionably fresh and timeless.  Celebrity fans of Julia Failey include Cindy Crawford, Kate Bosworth, Vanessa Minnillo & Ashley Jones. In 2007, the Women’s Jewelry Association Midwest Chapter nominated Julia for the rising Star Award.  Pictured from Top, Lotus Blossom Pendant Necklace, available in gold, silver and rose gold, $130.00.  Fortuna Stud Earrings in Silver, $98.00.

Hyla DeWitt’s passion for jewelry design began at a young age. As a child, Hyla accompanied her mother to Peru to visit family and friends, but spent much of her time there having custom jewelry designed at the local jewelry stores out of gemstones she collected during her travels.  Hyla continues to be inspired to create unique fashionable, and chic jewelry that can be worn everywhere from the grocery store to a wedding.  Pictured from top: Dahlia Necklace, gold plate chain with vermeil links, blue chalcedony and turquoise gemstones, $220.00.  Betty Necklace, antique gold and gold plated chain, emerald rhinestones with green chalcedony gemstones, $275.00.
