Women Helping Women

On a visit this Spring to NYC we saw these wonderful paper bead necklaces at one of our favorite stores ever, ABC Carpet and Home.  We immediately wanted them for adelé.  We learned that they were from a company called Bluma Project, and their story is as amazing as their jewelry.

Members of Bluma's team travel to Africa throughout the year to directly mentor women in advanced jewelry design. Each piece has been produced on site by a woman who was able to earn a sustainable wage and support her family, something that is often hard to come by in these locations.

Chic Bud Vases

Spring has sprung and so have all the beautiful flowers in your garden.  How about a bud vase for your cuttings?

These glass cube tube vases make a simple statement on their own, or group them in odd numbers for a grander centerpiece.  A single row of these down the middle of a long table would look striking.

How clever are these glass flower bud vases?  Each petal has an opening for a single stem.  Multiple vases can be stacked for added drama.

This sweet and simple mouth blown glass bird vase is adorned with hand applied glass details.

These cylinder glass vases are accented by a silver plated honeycomb pattern.  They look lovely with a fresh stem from your garden, but are equally striking as a decorative accessory in any interior.

Anglophiles

Americans seem to be obsessed with anything English at the moment, and to us Designers Guild is the epitome of British style.  We were recently paid a visit by our lovely rep, who showed us their striking new collection.  Below are some of our favorites.

Sofienberg's collection of printed fabrics combines classical motifs from Gustavian interiors with wonderfully drawn floral designs.  The unexpected but fresh color pallet is utterly charming.

The Bergius wallcovering features a contemporary and sophisticated damask pattern, which complements the fabric from the Sofienberg Collection beautifully.  What a statement this would make in an entryway.

The most fantastic geometric print we have seen in ages, Uppsala is a design that would be wonderful made up on a clean line chair or as accent pillows on an existing sofa.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas - Third Installment

Amy Graham Stigler, the designer of Smock Paper, is inspired by engravings on silver, vintage wallpapers, monograms & family crests, and her children's curiosity and endless questions.  She has translated these inspirations into eye catching designs for Smock Paper.  Using the historic craft of letterpress, this Syracuse, NY company is the first and only print shop in the US to offer printing on luxury bamboo paper.

Treat mom to the time honored gift of paper, with the right amount of whimsy that will make her feel special.
